Dine out for a cause

On Thursday March 10th, over 50 restaurants in DC will be participating in ‘Dining Out For Life.’  DOFL was started in 1991 by an ActionAIDS volunteer in Philadelphia.  It is an annual fundraising event held in over 55 cities around the US, to benefit city’s local licensed AIDS service organizations.  Around $4 million dollars a year is raised to support different agencies and their missions around the US.  Here in DC, depending on the restaurant, 25-110 % of your bill will be donated to Food & Friends.  Food & Friends, started in 1988, is the only organization in DC that provides, prepares & delivers specialized meals and groceries to children and adults facing HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.  This critical service is provided at no cost to the clients.  Some participating restaurants include Tosca Ristorante and Posto, who will both be donating 100% of the bill to Food & Friends.  A full list of participating restaurants can be found at Open Table, where reservations for this special day can also be made.
