Stripped, patterned, rosebud or fuchsia, guests brought out their prettiest pinks for the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Pink Tie Party.

“Eat, Drink & Be Cherry” was the theme of the fifth annual Pink Tie Party which signals the start of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Held at the Mayflower Renaissance Washington Hotel, guests wore their favorite blossom shades hosted by Chef Richard Sandoval.
About 650 guests were treated to tables of treats from top DC area restaurants including 1789, Farmer’s and Fishers, J&G Steakhouse, Kushi Izakaya & Sushi, LIMA, Mie N Yu, Zengo (and more) that honored the festival with cherry or blossom inspired fare and cocktails, like the Belvedere Citrus Blush. Under dimmed fuchsia lighting, entertainers hoisting oversized, glowing butterflies added to the evening garden inspiration as they glided across the main room.
A silent and online auction which featured items including round-trip airfare to Paris courtesy of OpenSkies, David Yurman Pave Diamond Cable Bracelet and case of Dom Perignon champagne all benefited the National Cherry Blossom Festival nonprofit as well as the American Red Cross’ Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Fund.
A specially packaged Cherry Blossom Cupcake from Crumbs was gifted as a tasty reminder as guests departed.
