New York Week ends, London begins, goes crazy, metallic pants are in and is Fashion’s Night Out over and out?

's 10-inch, so-called “Armadillo” shoe.

It was a whirlwind of a week in New York: a grueling fashion show schedule, endless parties and the stress of figuring out what to wear – these are just some of the daunting tasks of those that attended. But what if you are a designer? Not only do you have to showcase an entire line with skeptical critics judging every piece you have toiled over for months, you also have to make sure that the show has appeal. See what Thom Browne did for his show and why it got people talking.

… and speaking of toiling over designs, listen to Marchesa’s and talk about how long it takes to make these princess-like dresses from their collection.

But what if showing your collection isn’t the only thing you have going on that day, such as oh, opening a flag ship store the day you debut your first full collection? Super woman  did and see how she did it.

Alas, New York Fashion Week has come to a close but the memories live on. Here is a recap of the last of the shows, more emerging trends, as well as some celebs behaving badly.

  • Emerging Trends

Last week we discussed some of the emerging trends for next season, including cut out shoulders and peplum skirts.  This week, more have been uncovered including a pale yellow color and wearing more flats.   explains why these two are so important for the spring and what they represent.

… and if you saw Gwenyth Paltrow’s Pucci outfit from the Emmy’s last night (click to the last photo in the slideshow), it turns out, she is ahead of the season. Apparently, midriffs are back in for next spring. My question, is this an age-appropriate trend?

What also seems to be in for spring: colored hair. Although I might suggest brightly colored clip-ons to temporary hair dye, as I have learned from Lady Gaga.

    Other trends emerging for spring:

  • Long hair for men
  • Metallic pants for women
  • Animals AS prints
  • Celebrity Pandemonium

It was all over websites, Twitter and Facebook last week.  has a new friend to the tune of .  I could definitely see that coming, what with the couture Nicki wears in some of her videos.  What threw me for a loop was what she was wearing to .  It reminded me of a costume that didn’t make the cut into ’s “California Girls” video.  The good news, it’s easily replicable – with some different-sized pompoms and a glue gun.  The bad news … it seems to be ripped off from a young designer.

What didn’t get a lot of press?  Actor Thomas Jane, who managed to crash Hervé Léger’s show BEFORE and DURING the show – literally hopping onto and then off the runway to sit on some poor unsuspecting seat-filler’s lap.  Still, that pales in comparison to Lindsay Lohan’s less-than-ladylike rant at the Beauty & Essex event, which turned out to be a warm-up to V’s Black and White Ball incidents the following evening.

    …and now for a quick break….

There have been a few celebrities that have graced the New York Fashion Week runways this year, including Kirstie Alley who made a radiant debut at .

Also spotted –  at the  show.  He proved that when he speaks, reporters listen.

… and so as New York Fashion Week comes to a close, the looming question comes out to the public: Is Fashion’s Night Out over? Some say yes.  While it netted millions in revenue for Vogue, it didn’t do the same for stores.

September 16th kicked off the other fashion weeks around the world, starting with London.  Check out the recaps from some of the shows here:

… and now for an ever-adorable puppy break at London Fashion Week.  Do you think the pooch was licking its lips at the style or a possible new chew toy?

In other news, want to dress like a star from Gossip Girl but can’t afford the high-priced wardrobe?  Romeo & Juliet Couture now have the answer.  In conjunction with Warner Bros., a new Gossip Girl line will be available this fall in Kitson, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
