Trend Report: Global Fashion Roundup

Obscure cosmetic procedures, funding a shoe habit and coveted designer homes.

I normally start my posts with the most profound fashion news of the week but instead, I decided a huge dose of cuteness was in order.  See which furry, mini mammal was escorted down the runway, during Toronto Fashion Week.

… and now that we’ve all sighed with an audible “Aww,” let’s now verbally say “OW!”  A new procedure is hitting the plastic surgery scene — a hand lift.  Although not confirmed, I’m sure just like facial injections and loss of expression over time, this will result in the same thing – except, er, hand “expressions.”

What may require a facial injection, for fear of eyebrow-raising wrinkles? Karl Lagerfeld grocery shopping.  No, it’s not real but he might be onto something here – shopping with supermodels is a surefire way to stay out of the carb aisles.

Something that’s okay to wear: larger … eyebrows.  It looks like a procedure is available for that too.

Also surprising – Anna Wintour recycles fashion!  She stepped out a week ago in a Spring 2009 Chanel Couture dress for British Prime Minister David Cameron’s dinner.  One word: stunning.

Speaking of Chanel.  Ever wonder how their iconic black jacket is made?  Get a glimpse here!

I’m all for artistic shoes – artistic stems included.  However, I’m not sure I could deal with Florence Welch’s ponytail, dragging behind my every step.  It also begs the question, do I need to shampoo and condition them after every use?

A wearable shoe, with an even better story – Jimmy Choo’s Iris Apfel. Even though she, herself, can never wear them, you can!

What was apparently not wearable, platform shoes at Melbourne Fashion Festival.  See why.

Now… how many women would jump at the chance to be matched with a man who was willing to fund their shoe habit?  In Malaysia, it looks like enough to merit a new dating service.

Speaking of shoes… according to Dee and Tommy Hilfiger, it’s okay to have shoes everywhere! Check out Dee and Tommy Hilfiger’s Park Plaza home and how they have decorated the place.

Would you rather look at a place that is available?  Karl Lagerfeld’s Gramercy Park North residence is up for sale again!

Speaking of places that may or may not need staff… Kensington Palace’s staff uniforms are finalized! See Jaeger London’s final sketches here.

Missed all the posts from Fall 2012?  Here are the top 14 biggest trends – take note!  Also a not-to-miss: The best coats of Fall 2012, 20 enticing shoes and 10 investment-worthy handbags.

One minor detail in a Mary Katrantzou dress, during London fashion week, has typewriter collectors everywhere drooling.

Another minor detail, causing quite a stir – the price of Louis Vuitton’s train during Paris fashion week.

In other news, Prabal Gurung is now a member of CFDA and he has the shiny gold card to prove it.

Another beauty queen joins the shaving-her-head-for-charity group.  See who it is and what charity she was supporting.

This past week, Gloria Sachs, founder of capri pants in America, passed away.  Yep, I didn’t know there was a founder either.

Tom Ford can’t fail at anything, including his beauty line.  Get a sneak preview of his limited edition collection, coming out this April!  Also not to miss: his latest collection, which has surfaced online.

I usually close the post with S*** Karl says but it looks like he caught on.  Check out karl.com.  Need a quicker fix?  Here are his latest musings.
