The votes (and tweets) are in: 21-year-old Phillip Phillips won American Idol season 11. But with a large social media following, runner-up Jessica Sanchez clearly hit a high note with viewers as well. The star-studded finale included several laughs, tears and trending topics.

@TrevDon Yahoo! says “Singer wins American Idol” …….I don’t watch, but aren’t they usually singers?

@David_Boreanaz American Idol looks like a half time show tonight…or a better version.

@ladygego Another White Guy With Guitar won the “American” Idol. I can’t stand watching this show anymore.

@EricStangel 132 million votes for American #Idol. Just shows when we put our minds to it, we can waste a ridiculous amount of money

@AndySwift Predictable winner, but a beautiful ending. The best part of the night was and will always be Jennifer Holliday’s Muppet faces. #IdolFinale

@RyanSeacrest who did best w/ their #idolfinale outfit, Steven, Jen, Randy? I’m excluded for obvious reasons

The Great Gatsby trailer debuted online, adding to the anticipation of the 3D movie’s December premiere. The main talking points included the envious 1920s fashion and dreamy Leonardo DiCaprio. Will the movie satisfy followers and live up to the Twitter buzz?

@wbpictures NY. 1922. Stunning. @LeoDiCaprio@TobeyMaguire & Carey Mulligan in the new trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s #TheGreatGatsby http://t.co/3bI3wupE

@SmoshIan A trailer for The Great Gatsby movie is out? Great, because I totally wanted to re-live high school English class.

@BorowitzReport “The movie version of The Great Gatsby is in 3-D and has a song by Kanye.” — F. Scott Fitzgerald, rolling over

@ChrisRRegan I’ve decided I’m just gonna keep a closed mind about this Great Gatsby adaptation.

@tanehisi The problem is The Great Gatsby probably should be an indie flick. The beauty of the book is its small quiet take on a big loud time.

A hot deal on a cool treat, 7-Eleven offered free Slurpees on May 23. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. customers could grab a 7.11-ounce size of the famous drink. The occasion? The convenience chain’s new line of sugar-free flavors: Slurpee Lite.

@kelkulus Today is Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven, which means that for the first time ever, the nation’s Walmarts are empty.

@BeckySJones So, why is May 23 Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven and not, oh I don’t know, July 11?

@WatchJ Today is Free Slurpee Day at 7-11 but EVERYDAY is free Sprite day if you ask for a water cup #TeamWaterCup

@MarleeMatlin Being a mom of four I’d rather see Free Apple Day, Free Healthy Snack Day trending rather than Free Slurpee Day.

@theknottybride I hear it’s free slurpee day at 7-Eleven. My 12-yr-old self would LOVE this.
