The Washington Humane Society and other shelters waive fees in nationwide animal adoption event.

Are you ready for a new four-legged family member? They’re ready for you! The Washington Humane Society and other local shelters will be waiving adoption fees on Saturday, August 15 in an effort to encourage potential pet owners to #ClearTheShelters.
The first-of-its kind adoption initiative is made possible by a grant from the ASPCA, in partnership with NBC-owned television stations.
What to expect when you arrive on Saturday? WHS Chief Community Animal Welfare Officer Scott Giacoppo says the process is “really easy.”
“Once you come in and meet the pet that you want to adopt, you interact with them and then you basically sit down with one of our adoption counselors and have a chat. What we want to do is make sure that you’re choosing the right animal for your lifestyle.”
The whole process shouldn’t take more than 15-45 minutes, he says, and you’ll walk away with a new best friend.
WHS adoptions will take place in two locations on the big day:
When: Saturday, August 15, 2015 | 12:00pm to 7:00pm
Where: Washington Humane Society NY Ave Adoption Center
1201 New York Avenue NE
Washington, DC 20002
Washington Humane Society GA Ave Adoption Center
7319 Georgia Ave NW
Washington DC 20012
