Inspired by the Park’s iconic 1921 Dentzel Carousel, Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture’s Carousel Memories Gala on May 14 honored Carol Trawick, President of the Jim and Carol Trawick Foundation, for her outstanding leadership and support of Glen Echo Park and the arts in Montgomery County. Honorary Gala Chairs included Ambassador Connie Morella, Montgomery County First Lady Catherine Leggett and philanthropist and Town of Somerset Mayor Jeffrey Slavin.

Kidville Bethesda owner and “Modern Momprenuer” Anjali Varma served as Gala Chair. More than 320 guests, including Democratic nominee for Congress Jamie Raskin and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, enjoyed a reception in the Park’s beloved Bumper Car Pavilion – a venue for social dances on weekends and summer concerts every Thursday from June to August — followed by dinner and dancing in the historic Spanish Ballroom.

The event raised a record $140,500 to support the Park’s arts programs and historic carousel.  Guests also had the opportunity to view an exhibition in the Park’s Stone Tower Gallery of work from Carol Trawick’s private art collection.
