FYIDC: Dog Days of Summer Yappy Hour & Silent Auction

The Humane Rescue Alliance encourages furry friends to attend the event at Sudhouse DC.

This Thursday, support the Humane Rescue Alliance at The Dog Days of Summer Yappy Hour & Silent Auction at Sudhouse DC hosted by Nardi Media.

All proceeds from the silent auction and 10% of the alcohol tab will benefit the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA), the only animal shelter in Washington. Items have been donated from local sports teams and restaurants including the Washington Capitals, Nationals, Redskins, the Newseum, the International Spy Museum and District Taco. Guests are strongly encouraged to bring their pets and mingle with fellow animal lovers.

For over 145 years, HRA has protected and served more than 60,000 animals each year. HRA’s wide range of programs include rescue and adoption, humane law enforcement, low-cost veterinary services, animal care and control, behavior training, spay-neuter procedures and humane education. Field officers respond to more than 1,500 calls monthly and volunteers devote 2,900 hours each month to assist and relieve homeless animals.

“The organization is dedicated to ensuring the safety and welfare of all animals, bringing people and animals together, and working with all communities to support these relationships,” says HRA’s senior director of communications Matt Williams. “Every contribution someone makes at this event will go directly toward saving another life, caring for a sick or injured dog or cat, or educating young people on the importance of animal welfare”

Many organizations have been drawn to help the cause, including event hosts Nardi Media.

“These shelters struggle to get supplies needed to care for these homeless animals,” Nardi Media founder and publicity director Ashley Bernardi explained. “Partnering with the HRA allows us to put our talents to use by spreading awareness about the important work HRA is doing, while also raising money for supplies for our homeless furry friends.”

The Yappy Hour & Silent Auction takes place on August 3, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sudhouse D.C., 1340 U Street NW.
