The Ritz-Carlton held its second annual Cherry Blossom Tea on April 6th. Abevy of impeccably dressed guests sporting wide-brimmed, floppy hats attendedthe event, many with their favorite pooches in tow. First Lady Laura Bushcould not attend, but she sent her 6-month-old Scottish terrier, Barney,escorted by Bush friend Mary Jane Shackelford. Because of the Aprilshowers, tea was served in the hotel ballroom thisyear. Although invitations allowed for the inclusionof guests’ favorite chiens, no mentionwas made of their cats. Apparently, felines are not big tea drinkers.
