Old guard or new? Washington’s cavedwellers came out for the 47th AnnualWashington Antiques Show at theOmni Shoreham Hotel while a crowd ofyounger partygoers packed the hotelballroom for the three-day show’s culminatingevent, the Collectors’ Ball (formerlythe Young Collectors Ball), onJanuary 6. The ball’s theme, “The Mythof the Firebird,” complemented theAntiques Show’s theme of “CreaturesGreat and Small”; the show featuredmuseum-quality antiques depictingcreatures throughout history. Proceedsbenefited the Thrift Shop Charities ofWashington, D.C. and Georgetown.
