Tuxedos and Tarantulas

The Smithsonian Institute's Young Benefactors packed over 1,000 peopleinto the Museum of Natural History on September 21 for its thirteenthannual black-tie gala. So, how do tarantulas figure into an evening ofdining and dancing? Patrons who purchased VIP tickets were entitledto several perks, not the least of which was an up close and personaltarantula feeding in the Insect Zoo. While some guests were clearly "young" onlyat heart, most were 20 and 30-some-thing young professionals helping toraise funds and increase awareness of the goals and objectives of theSmithsonian Institution.
