The 50th Anniversary of the Georgetowner
A Golden Milestone

The Georgetowner turns 50 this year, and Washingtonians saluted its birthday at an event hosted by publisher Sonya Bernhardt in November. The cocktail reception featured delectable hors d'oeuvres from Washington's premier chefs: Frank Belosic of Fahrenheit; Todd Gray of Equinox; Cesare Lafranconi of Tosca; and Robert Wiedmaier of Marcel's.

The event, underwritten by the chefs and the Ritz-Carlton, raised $6,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (Bernhardt was one of the candidates for the society's 2003 Woman of the Year.) VIP guests were treated to champagne and caviar in the elegant Ritz condo penthouse, and Dr. Richard Pestell , director of the Lombardi Cancer Center, served as the honorary chairman and guest speaker.
