Master Chorale Candlelight
Wine and SongLove Stories

Sen. Don Nickles and his wife Linda; Pepco Chairman John Derrick and his wife Linda; Sen. Dianne Feinstein and her husband Richard Blum; and humorist Mark Russell and his wife Ali were honored at the Master Chorale’s annual Candlelight, Wine and Song benefit at the Four Seasons Hotel on February 12. The Nickleses met in sixth grade, married while still in college have been married for 35 years. John Derrick first noticed Linda in high school and gave her his Duke Sigma Chi pin the year before he proposed in 1960 on Christmas Eve. Sen. Feinstein and Blum were engaged after a courtship that included trips to Mt. Everest and India, and have been married for 24 years. Mark and Ali Russell got engaged on the steps of the Capitol 25 years ago and they married two weeks later.

The couples shared these and other stories at the event over an intimate dinner by candlelight and a Valentine’s serenade by the Master Chorale. Proceeds from the event and the silent auction benefit the Master Chorale’s outreach work with D.C. public schools.
