It was a Royal Rendezvous in the District earlier this month with a visit from Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark and His Royal Highness The Prince Consort. During their three day stay, the Royal Couple enjoyed delicious meals and artsy museum tours in the city.

The Phillips Collection, at 1600 21st Street NW, had the pleasure of hosting a luncheon for the Royal Family and 50 guests on June 8th. Some notable guests included members of the Royal Court, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and Ambassador Laurie Fulton. The specially prepared menu featured local specialties, like fresh spring pea soup with mint, grass-fed beef tenderloin and Maryland colossal lump crab.

An artist herself, Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark, along with His Royal Highness The Prince Consort and few guests were escorted on a private tour throughout the Phillips Collection modern art museum by Phillips Director Dorothy Kosinski. The tour included artwork from Danish artist Per Kirkeby, Edgar Degas’ masterpiece Dancers at the Barre and a special exhibition of Stella Sounds: The Scarlatti K Series.

The visit from the Royal Couple came in honor of the Royal Danish Ballet’s engagement currently featured at the Kennedy Center.
