Somewhere there is a joke in hear about the fat lady singing, but, we won’t go there … and chances are she would go to I street’s newest nightlight destination, Opera Ultra Lounge. The club’s interior was created by Francois Frossard, one of the most cutting-edge interior designers in the country, whose work can be seen in international hot-spots in New York City, Las Vegas and Miami, including Prive, Opium, Set, and Mansion. The 6,000 sq. ft club has a capacity for 300, and promises patrons “a new level of sophistication and distinction to DC nightlight.” The concept is being brought to DC by partners John Alexiades, Mood Bacho, Alex Haje, and Walid Zeyton. “Opera is a culmination of many years of experience, vision, and hard work for myself and my partners,” said Haje. Recently, at the splashy VIP opening, which pulled in DC regular Hill Harper (CSI NY), guests seemed particularly impressed with the Funktion One sound system, which also keeps the grooves going and the walls bouncing in The Boom Boom Room (NY), Liv (Miami), Cielo (NY), Playhouse (LA) and Space (Ibiza). Guests at the VIP opening included Omarosa, Catherine Ommanney, Paul Wharton, Katherine Kennedy and Grant Allen, Will Thomas, Erika Gutierrez, and all four Opera partners.
