Dance/MetroDC, along with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, presents The 9th Annual Metro DC Dance Awards. The evening celebrates and honors the region’s home-grown dance companies in all their rich variety. Performances this year include dance works by former Awards winners including Furia Flamenca, ARKA Ballet founder Roudolf Kharatian, and Jonathan Jordan of ARKA, and The Washington Ballet.
Making their Kennedy Center debuts will be: Frederick, MD, native, Richard Move as Martha Graham, “hostess” of the honors; and the DC Cowboys, fresh from their performance on last summer’s edition of NBC’s America’s Got Talent.
Kick-off this year’s ceremony with a pre-awards reception in honor of the finalists at the 600 Restaurant at the Watergate and bid on fabulous silent auction items to raise funds for the Awards program.
The reception begins at 4:45pm, followed by FREE Millenium Stage dance performances at 6pm at the Kennedy Center.
The Awards Ceremony is a ticketed event in the Terrace Theatre. Tickets go on sale August 3 at the Kennedy Center website and box office.
