Have too many summer veggies? Here’s a solution. Come out and learn to can fruit and pickle veggies so you can enjoy your local summer bounty during the cold, winter months. Through a presentation and demonstrate, you will learn the basics of how to pickle and can easily and safely.
Liz Falk has a background in environmental science and education and a master’s
degree in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development. She has worked on
organic farms in Virginia, Australia, and Costa Rica and received a
certification in ‘permaculture design’ in 2006. Liz has been working to
improve food security and the local food movement in Washington, D.C. and believes that food should be grown where people live. This approach to gardening creates a healthy environment and naturally benefits the whole community. When she’s not at Common Good, Liz works as the DC Markets and WIC/EBT program manager at FRESHFARM Markets.
