As the cherry blossoms fade, National Harbor will host the inaugural weekend of the Washington International Fine Arts Festival held May 1-2, 2010. For two days you will have the opportunity to stroll the streets, Plaza, and docks of National Harbor being warmed by the sun and caressed by cool breezes from the Potomac. All the while your senses being overwhelmed by the stunning works of art exhibited by over 135 of the nation?s top artisans, each selected by an independent jury of fine art professionals for the quality and originality of their work.

The festival will showcase over 14,000 pieces of original artwork covering a broad gamut of media and prices. Spectacular original paintings in oils, acrylics, and watercolors created in diverse styles (e.g., impressionistic, abstract, realism) of a broad spectrum of subject matter (e.g., still life, floral, landscape) will be included with many painters offering their works as more affordable giclee prints. Adorning the grounds will be breathtaking sculptures in stone, bronze, metal and glass including kinetic sculptures, smaller pieces for the home and installation-sized pieces for outdoors. You will also find one-of-a-kind fabric art and jewelry plus photography that will transport you to places unimagined.

Artists will treat you to marvelous creations in wood including fine furniture, vases, jewelry boxes and grandfather clocks.

You will also see breath- taking functional and nonfunctional art created in glass, ceramics and mixed-media along with beautiful drawings and printmaking.

Unlike most gallery events, the Washington International Fine Arts Festival gives you the unique opportunity to meet and interact with the artisans, adding inestimable value not only to your appreciation of art but also the specific pieces you purchase. Learn how the artist is inspired, how their careers began, what materials are used and how each piece is created. Artists will be available from 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday. Admission is FREE! Though we urge you to remember your wallets and purses as we are confident you will be inspired and moved by artwork that will enrich your life, your home, and your place of work!
