Upstairs on 7th Boutique Supports the Arts
Contemporary art to collide with contemporary fashions at DC’s Upstairs on 7th boutique for a Small Piece Arts Show on Thursday, May 6th, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Six artists – skilled in disciplines ranging from ceramics, to paintings, to sculptural glass – will show their small pieces in the boutique to help support The Lorton Arts Foundation of S. Fairfax County. The Lorton Arts Foundation integrates history, arts, education and recreation within a dedicated facility designed for community involvement and enrichment.
Artists to attend and show pieces include:
Gary Honig: “Follow the kids, they are what’s happening and could care less about rigidity and conformism.”
Judit Varga: “My work has a strong connection with nature and its organic structures which it is built upon.”
Kathy Wismar: “[Being an artist] is a firery mixture of seeing what is not yet real and working to make it happen.”
Laurel Lukaszewski: “Work based on line, rhythm and form, playing with positive and negative space.”
Michele Cormier: “An array of interesting subject matter, mostly driven by what captures me at any given moment”
Mila Kagen: “[I examine] issues of transparency, opacity, tensile strength, gravity, brittleness and flexibility.”
