What: The Prevent Cancer Foundation will hold its second annual 5K at West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. This family-friendly walk/run is perfect for those who want to get in shape, run a personal best time or enjoy the park with friends while supporting a good cause. Participants can form teams or run in honor or memory of someone.
When: Saturday, September 25, 2010. Warm ups start at 7:30 a.m. The race begins at 8 a.m. The awards ceremony is at 9.a.m.

Why: Named as a “5K best bet” by Washington Post Magazine, the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s 5K aims to encourage the public to take their own steps to prevent cancer, through healthy lifestyle choices and regular medical screenings. Proceeds from the race will help support the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
