Civil War at Sea

The United States Navy Memorial is holding a symposium to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. The U.S. Naval Institute and the U.S. Naval History & Heritage Command will co-host the event, highlighting the U.S. Navy’s role in, and contributions to, the outcome of the war. The event will kick off with keynote speaker Craig Symonds, renowned author of award-winning books Lincoln and His Admirals and The Civil War at Sea, and will include historians and authors who can speak about the blockading efforts, riverine warfare, and the major sea battles of the four-year war. In addition, historic memorabilia and artifacts from the war will be on display.
