For part two of the second annual Big Cherry Block Party, DMVers are invited to enjoy some Tokyo-inspired family fun.
Kon’nichiwa! Get ready for a block party straight out of Tokyo.
On Sunday, July 31st from 11 AM- 5 PM, Downtown Silver Spring invites everyone to enjoy some fun in the sun on Ellsworth Drive. For part two of the block party– part one took place in April– there will be free activities, cultural displays, performances and martial arts that will make you feel right in Japan.
The theme of this block party reflects the tradition in Japanese youth who socialize and wear a variety of different clothing styles in the area surrounding the Harajuku Station (see where the name comes from?).
Special features of the party include a live DJ, a free interactive gaming lounge, and live body painting.
Also, the official launch and presentation of The MISS-Adventures of Indian Pussy, the tale of an artistic kitten will premiere at the block party, perfect for the kids.
