The Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine come to the Blue Duck Tavern.

The end of September is always a lull. Sandwiched between August vacations and Labor Day Weekend on one end and the Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas trifecta on the other, it’s a relatively quiet stretch on the calendar. If all those blank date boxes don’t sit well with you, then consider snapping up some tickets for Blue Duck Tavern’s Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine evening on Friday, September 23.
The season-centric soiree is divided into three separate events (guests can choose to attend all three or just a portion of the evening’s activities). The first event is a tasting of local apple cider from Foggy Ridge Cider and mini desserts from chef Peter Brett from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. ($35; limited to 12 guests). The second event is a five-course Winemaker Dinner from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. hosted by winemaker Jed Steele from Steele Wines. Chef Brian McBride and local chocolatier Zoe Tsoukatos will handle the cuisine, which will be matched with a selection of Pinot Noirs. Afterward, guests retire to the outdoor terrace for cigars, chocolates and Catoctin Creek organic rye whiskey ($165 per person; limited to 12 guests). Suddenly, late September sounds a lot more exciting.
