Break out your glowsticks– the world’s largest paint party is invading the capital.
By Danielle Rita
Find an old t-shirt and practice your head bobbing because the world’s largest paint rave is coming to DC. DAYGLOW, founded by Committee Entertainment, originated in 2006 on college campuses in Florida. The show spread like wildfire (or paint pellets?), and has evolved into a world-wide tour. The event has a rave-like atmosphere accompanied by dub-step music. Think of a musical circus with live performances including DJs, soaring aerial acts, stilt-walkers, contortion acts, fire shows, cannons, and the penultimate “Paint Blast”. WARNING: do not wear anything of significance, because you will leave looking like a rainbow with paint occupying every piece of clothing. Dress Code requires white t-shirts.
DAYGLOW features live performances from DJs Laidback Luke, Rodger Sanchez, Robbie Rivera, Diplo, Funkagenda, A-Track, Joachim Garruad, Feed Me, Porter Robinson, Alex Gaudino, Funkerman, Starkillers, Austin Leeds, Oscar G, Electrixx, Static Revenger, David Berrie, The Devil From Acapulo, and resident DAYGLOW DJ David Solano.
The event’s newest feature kicked off in 2010 “DAYGLOW 3D”, and only tours in select cities. The 3D aspect takes the already unique experience to another level; glasses are included. Live dancers will be covered in eye-popping 3D body paint. 3D visuals will appear throughout the show on multiple screens, including the new and eye-proved “Paint Blast” count down anticipated by all attendees. Dust off your glow sticks and highlighters, and get creative!
The Washington DC event will be held at RFK Stadium on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 7 PM. You must be 18+ to attend. General Admission and VIP tickets are available. VIP package includes a DAYGLOW string back pack and face cloth, “Music Is My Drug” t-shirt and wrist band, a free bottle of paint, and access to the front of the line. Buy tickets HERE.
