Winter Wonderland Takes Over Nationals Park

An immersive holiday playground brings snow-day magic, family fun, and festive cheer

by Dara Klatt

This winter, Nationals Park trades peanuts and nachos for snow tubes, twinkling lights, and pure holiday enchantment. Winter Wonderfest, presented by Events DC, transforms the ballpark into a festive escape where kids, adults, and everyone in between can embrace the season.

The field and concourses become a full-scale winter playground packed with activities designed to keep energy high. For kids (and kids at heart), the snow tubing lanes are six lanes of zippy fun. Nearby, a classic favorite gets a frosty upgrade with Putt Putt mini golf, inviting friendly competition amid holiday décor.

Families will find no shortage of interactive experiences. Little ones can run, build, play, and pose at whimsical selfie photo opps scattered throughout the park, perfect for capturing holiday memories against glowing lights and seasonal backdrops.

Adults, meanwhile, can enjoy the magic at their own pace. Whether it’s cheering on friends from the sidelines of the tubing lanes, strolling through illuminated installations with the beloved holiday classic The Polar Express playing on the big screen, or warming up near cozy gathering spots with hot cocoa, Winter Wonderland strikes a balance between upbeat fun and laid-back holiday vibes.
