A new website allows you to do good while you travel
By Jane Hess Collins
What do President Clinton, Spike Lee and will.i.am have in common? The former president, provocative film producer, Black Eyed Peas frontman and others have teamed up to launch and support MASSIVEGOOD, a micro-contribution initiative that allows travelers to help fight HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria every time they book a flight or hotel, or rent a car. Created by the Millennium Foundation and launched on March 4 by President Clinton at the United Nations, MASSIVEGOOD has the potential to raise millions for global health.
By contributing an extra $2.00 through online travel sites or through travel agents, your donation allows UNITAID to help lowering the price and increasing availability of key treatments in poor countries.
Hollywood is jumping on board. Other top entertainers and politicians who support MASSIVEGOOD are Ben Stiller, Kevin Connolly, Marion Cotillard, Mary J. Blige, Paul Auster, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Brown (wife of Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom), Shekhar Kapur, Susan Sarandon, Tobey Maguire, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, and Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
Just another great reason to book that getaway vacation!
