Art, music and fashion collide at the launch of the Loree Grand at Union Place.

The Loree Grand at Union Place opened its doors with an art-inspired grand opening celebration. The new luxury high-rise apartments in the flourishing community of NoMa, welcomed over 300 guests to celebrate its grand opening. Attendees flooded the ArtJamz’s interactive painting stations creating illustrations that reflected the city chic style of NoMa, and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from neighborhood favorites including Dangerously Delicious Pies, Taylor Gourmet, and “Top Chef” contestant, Chef Spike Mendelsohn’s newest venture, We, The Pizza.
Among those enjoying the artistic scene were White House chef Sam Kass, David Washington, Christina Sevilla, Gregory Turk and Katherine Kennedy.
The Loree Grand is named after legendary Northeast community activist Loree Harris Murray. The community’s 212 residences are comprised of studio, one-, and two-bedroom floor plans.
According to the developers Cohen Companies and Bozzuto Managment Companies, incorporating the area’s artistic community was paramount – 30 of the building’s residences are specifically for artists through a partnership with the Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC). The apartments are designed with a studio space and are allotted to artists, art administrators, and educators via ADU grants. The exterior of the 10-story building was designed by GTM Architects, with crisp lines and expansive windows that take in panoramic views of the city and of the Capitol.
Why do we like it? Because it’s conveniently in the heart of the city, minutes from Eastern Market, Atlas Performing Arts Center, Union Station, XM Radio, Rock & Roll Hotel, and Bier Garten Haus, among others. In the coming months, a Harris Teeter Food Market will open its doors.
