Kelly and Friends urged guests to hit the dance floor at their 7th annual benefit concert.
By Kinne Chapin
For their 7th annual benefit concert, Kelly and Friends truly outdid itself. Supporters of the charity gathered at the Country Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, MD for a night of non-stop dancing, good food, and excellent music. The proceeds from Kelly and Friends: Dancing Under the Stars were donated to the Prince George’s Education Foundation, Capitol Movement, Inc. and the Ladies of IMANI. Each organization was chosen for its long history of effectively expanding educational programs and providing scholarships to deserving students in the district as well as other groups in need of support.
Singer Kelly Owens kicked off the night’s musical entertainment, followed by the talented group Spur of the Moment and vocalist Brenda Anderson. Some of the nights more comic entertainment came from their “Dancing Under the Stars” program, which tipped it’s hat to Dancing with the Stars, by showcasing the fancy feet of local celebrities such as Comcast SportsNet TV Host and former Washington Post sports reporter Ivan Carter, Dr. William Hite, Superintendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools, and Anji Corley, a WPGC on-air personality.
Guests couldn’t help tapping their toes- the key sign to a successful concert!
The Kelly and Friends 7th annual Benefit Concert demonstrated that a truly good time can be had for a good cause- but now the challenge remains: how will they top this extravaganza next year?
