Chefs from top restaurants throughout the district, including 701’s Melanie Parker, 1789’s Travis Olson, Blue Duck Tavern’s Peter Brett, Cake Love’s Warren Brown, and Hook’s Heather Chittum, will create work-of-art cake designs that capture the spirit of The Phillips Collection. The cakes will be on display in the museum, and, better yet, visitors can vote for their favorite of the delicate desserts.

The re-opening of the original Phillips house, which was damaged by a fire in early September, will also be a reason to step out for the celebration.

The Phillips’ original house will showcase the museum’s permanent collection, along with an inspiring installation of work by Sir Howard Hodgkin, entitled “As Time Goes By.”

While some works of art to be featured in the celebration are timeless, others are perishable. So, lovers of art- mark your calendars. The gourmet art cakes at the Phillips will be on display for only one weekend in January, and they are sure to be an unforgettable birthday card!
