Our newest single of the month dishes on his best and worst dating moments.
By Ursula Lauriston
Ladies, meet Bloom—Steve Bloom that is. 6’5, brown eyes, sandy blond hair. Need I say more? Didn’t think so. The 27-year-old Legislative Policy Analyst hails from the DMV area but left for a few years to teach underprivileged kids in one of Miami, Florida’s toughest areas.
“I’m careful when it comes to dating,” says Bloom. “I’ve had my heart broken before.”
Age: 27
Occupation: Legislative Policy Analyst
Hometown: Annapolis, Maryland
Twenty Something: Have you ever been in love?
Steve Bloom: Yes.
TS: How did you know?
SB: It’s just a feeling of not being able to do without the person.
TS: What are you looking for in a woman?
SB: She has to be smart, fun, funny and bring out the best in me.
TS: Have you ever cheated in a relationship?
SB: Never.
TS: What do you think of DC dating?
SB: DC dating has been fun. There are a lot of smart people here—a lot of interesting people to meet. I’m still taking it in. Seeing what DC has to offer.
TS: Do you think DC is a good place to settle down?
SB: Being from Maryland I would say yes. You have to open it up to the rest of the DMV area. I love this place. This is where my family is. This is where I want to be.
TS: What is your biggest complaint about the women you’ve gone on date’s with?
SB: I would say the girls here are a little too uptight. They’re too caught up in how things are going to look. I like to try new things and not worry so much about what everyone’s thinking about.
TS: What’s the most romantic thing you’ve done for a girlfriend/date?
SB: One time I kidnapped my girlfriend for the weekend and didn’t tell her where we were going. I drove her to Ocean City. It was an amazing trip.
TS: What’s a perfect date for you?
SB: We would break all the rules and talk about religion and politics. I want to know what they’re passionate about. I want someone to maybe inspire that passion in me.
TS: Tell me about the worst date you’ve ever had.
SB: Aww man! I have to go all the way back to high school!
This girl was awful! A church friend of mine kept insisting I go on a blind date with her friend. This girl was chewing gum the entire time. She had caked on makeup and bleach blond hair. She could barely string a sentence together.
It was very awkward. We got ice-cream and went to a movie. In the middle of the movie she got a phone call and had to leave. I stayed and finished the movie.
TS: What’s your favorite body part on a woman?
SB: Is that a trick question?
TS: What can a girl do to get your attention?
SB: I need strong signals. I have a secret fear of being a creepy guy. I’ve seen creepy guys and I never ever want to be that guy, so I need to know she’s interested. It’s all in the eyes! Eye contact is very important. Give me a signal! Something!
