The fourth annual international awards competition celebrates the “power of photography” in both amateur and professional work.
If you have a camera– or maybe even just a camera phone– and you love taking pictures, you could be the next FotoWeek DC competition winner.
In honor of spotlighting the photographical work of artists in the DMV and around the world, FotoDC is gearing up for their Annual International Awards Competition. FotoDC is a nonprofit photography organization based in the district.
The competition, which features 11 categories of entry, is open to both amateur and professional photographers with a chance to win $20,000 and the opportunity for the winners’ work to be displayed during FotoWeek DC, held this year from November 5-12.
Categories of the competition include single images, photo series, student portfolios (eligible for those 18 or older, enrolled in an accredited program), multimedia images and mobile phone photos. More specifically for the single images and photo series, contestants may enter their work under subcategories like Photojournalism/Social Documentary or Fine Art.
For work submitted by Sunday, July 24th, contestants will receive the early bird discount. The final deadline for submissions is Monday, September 12th.
Photography submitted in the competition will be reviewed by a panel of 17 judges. If you’re thinking of competing, be sure keep your email inbox clear. Winners will be notified via email by Wednesday, October 5th.
