The intimate story about a man, a woman and unexpected love comes to Arlington.
By Christina Hubmann
We all know how difficult it is still to believe in the love when you have to come to terms with your emotional past. But why shouldn’t there be a second time finding love in your life?
There should be a new beginning, right?
The musical A Second Chance, featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Ted Shen, tells you about a man who lost his wife, a newly-divorced woman and their rediscovery of love during unexpected times.
It’s the story of Dan and Jenna, both middle-aged, who find back to happiness after sitting next to each other at a New York dinner party. The story is simple and yet powerful: the idea of finding love when you are least looking for it.
Signature Theatre presents the world premiere musical A Second Chance, directed by Jonathan Butterell— who is best known for the theatre’s Giant— with jazz and musical theater stylings by Zak Sandle. Veteran Broadway performer Brian Sutherland (remember, The Sound of Music?) and Diance Sutherland, from She Loves Me and The Light in the Piazza, will show that a second love is still possible in these days.
Once presented in concert by The Public Theater at Joe’s Pub in New York in September 2010, A Second Chance can now be seen as a one-act lyrical duet in Signature Theater, a non-profit professional theater under Artistic Director Eric Schaffer.
You have the chance to visit the musical A Second Chance at Singles Theatre in Arlington, Virginia from November 15 to December 11, 2011.
