The National Theatre wants you to “be its guest” for two weeks in June as Disney’s favorite love story Beauty and the Beast returns to Washington D.C., starting June 12. You know the story – Belle, the young beautiful woman from a provincial town meets the Beast, a handsome young prince spellbound by an enchantress. The only way for the beast to break the curse and return to his former self is if he learns to love and be loved in return. (Cue romantic sighs).

The magical production evolved into an international sensation, reaching nearly 35 million people in 21 countries.

The original creators of the Broadway product, along with NETworks presentations, reunite and collaborate to revive this award-winning theatrical performance.

“Hopefully I’ve grown and developed as an artist, along with my collaborators, and we can bring 15 years of experience to this new production,” says Director Rob Roth.

“The theme of ‘Beauty’ is about seeing past the exterior into the heart of someone, and this is reflected in the design for the show, which is about transparency and layers, seeing past one thing and into another.”

The play is directed by Rob Roth, and choreographed by Matt West. Music features Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice; music supervision by Michael Kosarin.
