Ballet and Latin American dance fuse in the Washington Ballet‘s “Noche Latina,” premiering tonight at Kennedy Center‘s Eisenhower Theater. It may be too late to participate in the invite-only fundraiser “Noche de Pasion” (which includes an after-performance fiesta at the Mexican Cultural Institute hosted by no less than the Mexican Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan himself) leading up to the opening-night show, it’s not too late to take in the splendor of the ballet’s production, which runs through this Sunday, May 13. Ticket here.

“Noche Latina” features two world premieres by Edwaard Liang and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and strives to celebrate Latin American traditions, music and dance while incorporating the ballet’s own unique twist. If the ballet’s last sell-out show — “Alice (in wonderland)” — is any indication, Artistic Director Septime Webre’s “Noche Latina” is sure to be unforgettable.
