Washingtonians wander along Wisconsin Avenue, enjoying Taste of Georgetown 2011.

For the 19th year, Taste of Georgetown is bringing food, fun and music to Georgetown, giving Washingtonians the opportunity to taste their way through some of the best restaurants in one afternoon.

Over 60 signature dishes from 30 popular dining spots, including Clyde’s, Café Bonaparte, Serendipity 3 and newcomer Shut Your Pie Hole will be serving up savory sandwiches, sweet crepes, exotic duck noodles and burgers. And, of course, there will be plenty of cupcakes provided by Baked and Wired, Sprinkles and Georgetown Cupcake.

A panel of culinary connoisseurs will also be on hand to judge the “best” in several categories, including Best Use of Seasonal Ingredients, Best Veg-Friendly dish, and Best Way to Satiate a Sweet Tooth. Judges include former Top Chef competitor Graffiato’s Mike Isabella, Washington City Paper food columnist Jessica Sidman, and Washington Post features editor Katie Aberbach. HOT 99.5’s DJ Samy K will serve as emcee.

Wash down all that good eating at the Wine, Ale, and Spirits Pavilion, which will house a number of refreshments, from Sam Adam’s Angry Orchard Crisp to SkinnyGirl Sangria. And, don’t miss local musicians, including John Stone Reggae Band, jazz quartet Laissez Foure, swing band King Teddy, and David Cole & Main Street Blues band providing some lively entertainment to round out the day. Other activities include balloon artists, face painters, and even a culinary-themed photo booth.

Taste of Georgetown, Saturday, June 2nd, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Wisconsin Avenue between M Street and K Street. Tasting tickets, which can be purchased online, are $5 each or 5 for $20. Drink tickets are $4 each or 3 for $10. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the Georgetown Ministry Center, which works to find lasting solutions to homelessness in the greater Washington area.
