With 575 international dealers expected, the Baltimore Summer Antiques Show, which is scheduled to take place from August 23-26 at the Baltimore Convention Center, will feature everything from 16th-century art to contemporary paintings, sculptures and fine jewelry.
“The show is incredibly diverse, with paintings, sculptures, book dealers and fine jewelry with brands like Rosenberg Diamonds showcasing millions in inventory,” said Scott Diament, CEO of the Palm Beach Show Group, which has long hosted the show.
This year’s event specializes in 19th-century European paintings, which take up 700 square feet of the exhibition, and include a multimillion-dollar Monet.
For the serious antique-r, a wide array of industry specialists will be on hand to present in-depth lectures. Expected speakers include renowned experts Robert Mintz and Thomas Quincy Scott, Asian Art curators at The Walters Art Museum, Patricia Funt Oxman of Patricia Funt Antiques as well as Gerald Barkham and Steve Epstein of Your Piece of History. Topics run the gamut from the art of Chinese textiles, presented by specialist Paul Haig, to how advertisements can be transformed into art.
“The idea of the free lectures for collectors looking to buy art allows the opportunity to learn more about the various collections of art and antiques,” said Diament.
“We’re excited to have the show back in Baltimore.”
