Trump re-imagines historic building as luxury hotel with LEED potential.

Under Donald Trump’s hand, the Old Post Office will be transformed into a grand hotel reminiscent of classic European hotels with 270 guest rooms each more than 600 feet large with 14-to-16-foot ceilings, two Presidential Suites at 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms, a 3,000-sqaure-foot ballroom and a gilded atrium with a water sculpture and crystal chandeliers, the largest ballroom in Washington and plenty more. Plus, Trump’s hotel collection is planning to achieve LEED certification.
Well-known architects Beyer Blinder Belle of the Lincoln Center, Smithsonian and Empire State Building has been brought on as well as hospitality interior design specialists Hirsch Bedner and preservationist John Cullinane & Associates. Together, the team has put together an enticing peek into what Washingtonians can expect when the $200 million project opens in late 2015. Based on the renderings (below), we like what we see.
The Trumps are also planning a 4,000-square-foot Mar-a-Lago spa by Ivanka Trump and a museum, retail shops and an exhibition center around the famous Clock Tower.
