Art Nouveau
The National Gallery of Art previewed the largest ever Art Nouveau exhibition with a black-tie dinner
in October. The Art Nouveau designers sought to create a complete decorative style that combined all
of the arts, including painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative arts, and architecture, in a single,
expressive whole. The exhibition features more than 350 stunning objects from 22 countries and
includes works by Gustav Klimt,William Morris, Louis Sullivan, Louis Comfort Tiffany, and Frank Lloyd
Wright. Guests also enjoyed music by composers from the Art Nouveau period, including Debussy and
Ravel.
