Boom. Bang. Bust. Before there was the war onterrorism, there was the demise of the dot.coms tosink our spirits. Sinking spirits weren’t in evidence,however, as friends came out to celebrate the releaseof J. David Kuo’s new book chronicling his tenure asa former senior vice president of communications atValue America.com, entitled “dot.bomb: My Daysand Nights at an Internet Goliath” on October 25.Kuo, whose resume also includes working for theCIA and a U.S. senator, and as a journalist andspeechwriter, currently works in the faith-based initiativesoffice at the White House. An eclectic groupof guests that included EJ Dionne, Bill Bennett, JoeKlein, Nina Easton, John Diiulio, Phil Merrill, CalThomas, Ronald Christie (assistant to Vice PresidentCheney), and Adam Walinsky (a former speech-writerfor President Kennedy), gathered to celebratethe book’s launch at Smith and Wollensky.
