On January 25, the National Gallery of Art’s West Building was the site of areception and preview for the new exhibit “Modern Art and America -AlfredStieglitz and His New York Galleries.” Exploring Stieglitz’s role inthe development of modern art in America, the exhibition brings togetherfor the first time many of the most significant works of art that Stieglitzshowed in his New York galleries from 1908 to 1946. More than 190 paintings,sculptures, photographs, and works on paper are included.
