Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, senators, congressionalrepresentatives, and other distinguished guests celebrated the mystique ofNew Orleans at the 13th annual gala for Children’s Inn at NIH at the NationalBuilding Museum on October 3. Cokie Roberts served as mistress of ceremonies.Funds raised at the gala will help to underwrite the operating costs of the innthat was created to allow parents and siblings to stay with children who areundergoing treatment at the NIH. Plans are currently underway for a much-neededaddition, a two-level wing that will connect with the original structureand will accommodate 18 additional seriously ill children and their families.
