| Diplomatic Dance The annual Ambassadors Ball, a chance for prominent business, political and social leadersto welcome newly-assigned ambassadors and their spouses to Washington, took place at theGrand Hyatt Hotel on October 1. This year's ball was co-chaired by Reverend KathleeneCard (wife of White House Chief of Staff Andy Card) and Susan Bayh (wife of SenatorEvan Bayh) with Chris Matthews (host of "Hardball") and wife Kathleen (ABC-7 newsanchor) emceeing. A benefactor reception, held at the residence of New Zealand AmbassadorJohn Wood and his wife Rose, was followed by a silent auction, dinner and dancing. Proceedsbenefitted the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's efforts to find a cure.
