| U.K./U.S.Teams Face Off Picture-perfect weather, women in beautiful summerdresses and picture hats, dashing men, even the magnificent horses were well-groomed, sporting braidedtails at the daylong celebration of the Range RoverInternational Polo Match at Chet wood Park in ThePlains, Virginia. A noon VIP reception in honor ofRange Rover and the U.K. team kicked off the day'sschedule. In addition to the featured match, amusements included tailgating, Jack Russell Terrier races, equestrian demonstrations, a carriage exhibition, face painting for kids, musical entertainment, and alive auction. If all this and watching the all-star poloteam from England face off against the U.S. teamweren't exciting enough for you (the match was prettythrilling, the Yanks beat the Brits by a score of 8-6),there was always the people watching.Event patrons U.K. Ambassador Sir ChristopherMeyer and Lady Meyer hosted a preview reception forthe British team the night before the match. Perhapsthe British team partied a little too heartily? In anycase, there may be a chance for a rematch, the eventwill be held again next year. Originally scheduled for last September butcancelled out of respect for those lost on 9-11, theJune 29 event raised close to $200,000 for NationalRehabilitation Hospital, which is recognized byU.S. News and World Report as one of "America'sBest Hospitals" for Neurology, Rehabilitation andRheumatology.
