For the past six years, the Knock-Out Abuse AgainstWomen fundraiser has been attracting some of the mostbeautiful and enthusiastic crowds of women for an annualgirls’ night out —all to raise awareness and funds for animportant cause. Congresswoman Mary Bono (R-CA) andABC News veteran Sam Donaldson served as cohosts for theevening, while Robin Leach might have found himself a newprofession as the event’s lively auctioneer. This year’s hon-oreesincluded activist Alexine Jackson, National BoardPresident of the YWCA of the U.S.A.; Patricia Malone,President of Gucci America, Inc.; actress Anne Archer; andtelevision news-anchor Barbara Harrison. Both Mary Wilsonof the Supremes and Ty Schroyer, the men’s program coordi-natorof the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project, deliveredincredible, poignant speeches to the assembled. Towards theend of the evening, the ladies were joined by the gentlemenfrom Fight Night for further reveling, to the sounds of KCand the Sunshine Band. Proceeds from the event will benefitvictims of domestic violence at the House of Ruth inWashington, D.C., Bethany House in Falls Church, VA, andthe Crossroads Community of Kensington, MD.
