Lombardi Cancer Center Gala | Courage and Caring The 14th annual Lombardi Gala, “Miracles of the Millennium,” proved to be a magical evening indeed, withguests enjoying dinner and dancing at the much-anticipated event. Guests enjoyed participating in a liveauction, where they enthusiastically bid on items such as BMWs, island vacations, and exotic antiquePersian rugs. The highlight of the evening came during the awards presentation when the “Lombardi Symbolof Courage” Award was presented to Eric Davis, outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals. The award is giveneach year to a sportsperson who has faced cancer and possesses the inspirational qualities of legendaryfootball coach Vince Lombardi for whom the Georgetown Cancer Center is named. This year's “LombardiSymbol of Caring” Award was presented to Hecht Company President and CEO Irwin Zazulia for his financialand personal support of the Center's commitment to finding cures for cancer.
