The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship Luncheon brought corporate executives, activists, and
cancer survivors together to honor Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan. The event featured remarks by Dennis
Minano, Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Chief Environmental Officer of General Motors, as well as
Sidney Kimmel, Chairman of the Sidney Kimmel Foundation for Cancer Research. Richard Klausner, M.D., the
Director of the National Cancer Institute introduced Queen Noor, who spoke about how her life has been
forever affected by the disease. The Luncheon was followed that evening by the NCCS’ second annual Rays
of Hope national candlelight vigil, held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, for cancer survivors,
their fami-lies, and friends. There, Queen Noor summed up the fight against cancer and the survivorship
experience by saying, “It’s all about hope.” The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship is the only
patient-led organization advocating on behalf of people with all forms of cancer.
Luncheon Chairs: Pennie M. Abramson, Marlene A. Malek, and Ellen V. Sigal, Ph.d.
