Many of Washington’s top leaders in Congress, in the Administration, at NIH, and in the medical field
were in attendance at the 11th annual Children’s Inn at NIH Gala Dinner and Auction. The brainchild of a
group of bipartisan Congressional wives, the Children's Inn is a residence for children undergoing
treatment at the National Institutes of Health. Young patients stay cost-free at the Inn with their
families throughout their medical treatment. Since the Inn has served families and children from every
state and Congressional district, event organizers selected “From Every State” as this year’s theme and
as a special treat, each state was represented in the silent auction by a State basket, filled with
wonderful items, assembled and donated by Congressional spouses. All proceeds from the annual Gala and
Auction benefit the Children’s Inn, enabling it to continue providing a peaceful, temporary home for
young patients and their families.
Location: Capital Hilton Hotel
Gala Chairs: Debbie Dingell, Marianne Gingrich, Chris Downey, Anthony Morella, Jane Gephardt,
and Cecile Tauzin
