Washington Ballet Fall Season Opener |
To the Pointe
The Washington Ballet recently celebrated the opening of their new fall season of fine programming at the
Kennedy Center with their new artistic director, Septime Webre. Ballet aficionados gathered together to
enjoy the world premiere of Webre’s “Juanita y Alicia,” which promises to add some Latin flavor to the
Washington Ballet’s fall line-up. Set to fabulous Cuban music of the era, this new ballet is based on
stories of Webre’s mother’s family in Havana during the 1920s and 1930s.
Special Guests included: Mrs. Jon Hannibalsson (Icelandic Ambassador’s wife), Ambassador of the
Netherlands and Mrs. Joris Vos, and Irena Kuzminsky (Polish Ambassador’s wife)
