It Takes Two to Tango
Argentina, a country known for its exciting cultural traditions including the expressive and exotic
tango, was the focus of this year’s Wolf Trap Ball. The 29th annual event entitled “Passion for
Argentina” reflected the fiery passion of this Latin country. The Ball hosted over 1,000 of Washington’s
most distinguished residents, including members of Congress, the diplomatic corps, and corporate leaders.
Even actor and passionate tango dancer Robert Duvall was in attendance at this year’s black-tie Ball
which included a reception, dinner, and lots of dancing. The event marks the end of the 1999 Filene
concert season, and is held each year to benefit Wolf Trap’s renowned education programs around the
world.
Honorary Patron: The Ambassador of Argentina and Mrs. Diego Ramiro Guelar

To tango or not to tango. That was the question on the minds of guests at this
year's Ball. Actor Robert Duvall and his beautiful girlfriend Luciana Pedraza
enthusiastically took to the dance floor as attendees encircled the graceful couple.
To blend in with such avid tango enthusiasts, some dance novices were rumored to have
even taken private tango lessons in preparation for the big event. |
