The National Symphony Orchestra’s season is off to an auspicious
start. Its annual fundraiser at the Kennedy Center, chaired
by Ann Jordan, raised more than $1 million. After the opening
concert conducted by maestro Leonard Slatkin, ball guests in
black-tie attire sauntered upstairs, where they sipped martinis and
champagne, dined and danced in the Roof Terrace restaurant.
Among the 900 guests were Mayor Anthony Williams, General
Dynamics chairman Nick Chabraja, the ambassadors of Britain,
Kuwait, Sweden, Jordan, Mexico and Denmark, Redskins owner
Dan Snyder, and New York Times columnist Tom Friedman, whose
wife, Ann, chaired the event.
Nothing like a million dollars to put a smile on your face!
